L'École des beaux-arts de Montpellier: a singular history

The 3rd edition of the SOL! territorial biennial brings together, for the first time, MO.CO. and the Musée Fabre. The exhibition traces nearly 250 years of history of the École des beaux-arts de Montpellier, bringing together more than sixty artists who studied there, from Cabanel to Combas, Richier to Viallat, Soulages to Benchamma. Heritage works and contemporary creations engage in dialogue across the spaces of the Musée Fabre and MO.CO. A wider program of exhibitions and events extending throughout the city and region rounds out this celebration of an exceptional artistic heritage. In partnership with the Musée Fabre, Montpellier, the Musée Paul Valéry, Sète, FRAC Occitanie Montpellier, MRAC Sérignan, and the Carré d'Art in Nîmes.

L'esprit de l'atelier: 16 artists trained at the Beaux-Arts de Paris with Djamel Tatah

MO.CO. Panacée offers a reflection built around a "textbook case": Djamel Tatah's studio at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. A professor in Paris from 2008 to 2023, painter Djamel Tatah — now based in Montpellier — trained an entire generation of artists whose diversity of practices, singular career paths, and rapid emergence on the national scene are striking. The exhibition brings together 16 artists with more than 120 works, either recent or specially created for the occasion. Through painting — oscillating between figuration and abstraction — as well as drawing, sculpture, weaving, and installation, the artists open up inner worlds, real or fictional, on the border between the present and the collective imagination.
