Berlin-based jewellery brand Avgvst commissioned Harry Nuriev, founder of Crosby Studios, to create an immersive pop-up exhibition in the gardens of the Palais-Royal in Paris to present its new collection, until 28 March. By brand and jewellery designer Natalia Bryantseva, the collection is inspired in collaboration with Harry Nuriev by 16th-century French tapestries, cave paintings, Jean-Michel Basquiat, dark kitchens and the legendary Berlin nightclub Berghain.

The exhibition space, itself inaugurated for this event, is entirely covered in mirrored metal panels arranged around a central fountain. This central island, designed as a memory archive, acts as a piece of furniture, concealing drawers and jewellery cabinets lined with vibrant yellow velvet.

Harry Nuriev's conceptual approach illustrates a vision of design in which traditional methods of communication are abandoned in favour of creative transformation. He shapes, reinvents, recycles and reuses ideas, concepts and objects in a process he calls transformism. In this spirit, the role of traditional designers gives way to that of transformists, artisans of a constantly evolving aesthetic, which he applies to himself, as can be seen on Instagram: Harry Nuriev, transformist @Crosbystudios.

Crosby Studios sets itself apart through its versatile creative approach, embracing public spaces, private residences, stores, product design, fashion and art collaborations, as well as immersive installations often conceived through the prism of radical design.

At the crossroads of design, fashion, architecture and artistic practice, Nuriev is renowned for creating collections of sculptural furniture presented within immersive installations that often blend material, virtual and augmented realities. His recent work has evolved to incorporate digital art, including virtual spaces for Valentino and Nike, and covers for magazines such as Hypebeast, Vogue and Architectural Digest.

Harry Nuriev currently lives in Paris.
