YellowKorner presents "Paparazzi", an exhibition by Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain, opening 13 February 2020!
YellowKorner is pleased to celebrate the photographs of Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain. Following their exhibitions at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris), as well as the Centre Pompidou-Metz and the Universal Exhibition in Milan, YellowKorner is making the duo’s work accessible to as wide an audience as possible.
This exhibition, organized by YellowKorner, takes a look at celebrities’ garbage, which will be shown simultaneously at La Hune and the 100 galleries of YellowKorner around the world, from 13 February, 2020.
This work combining the two approaches of Mouron and Rostain was inspired by an article published in Le Monde by a university sociology professor. His study analyzed the content of our bins to understand consumption trends and social behavior.
Inspired by this concept, the famous paparazzi Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain started to "go through the trash" of celebrities. Beginning in 1988 with the dustbins of Serge Gainsbourg – at his rue de Verneuil home in the 7th arrondissement – the idea came to life.
The duo realized that when set against black velvet, the thrown away items recalled ancient botanical specimens, giving them a particular elegance. They decided to take this approach further, first in France, then across the Atlantic in Los Angeles, scouring the trash of stars and artists. Thus, the series was born, mixing practices of paparazzi and sociology.
Today, with the “poubelles de la mer” (trashcans of the sea) and “les poubelles de Dieu” (trashcans of God), the two artists are opening a new chapter, more universal and ecological. Thirty years after the genesis of the project, it is once again at in the Saint-Germain des Prés quarter of Paris that the project resumes with this unique exhibition at La Hune organized by YellowKorner.
By making their work available through YellowKorner, Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain are offering the opportunity to acquire a certified limited-edition print from this series at an affordable price.
YellowKorner, which is in its 13th successful year with 30 galleries in France, strives towards a democratization of art, with unparalleled quality of choice, accessible to the widest audience.
