The Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute, a hotspot for arts and culture in Bordeaux, is honoured to present the prestigious exhibition, Graffiti Art: Legendary Paintings from 1970-1990 at Château Labottière, until September 27, 2016.

The Gallizia Fund, one of the largest of its kind, is composed of many collections. It is primarily made up of the “Vintage Collection” and the “Love Collection”.

Historically, the “Love Collection” is the only commission in existance of international artists of its size, theme and place. In regards to the contemporary creations exhibited, the variety of styles serve as a panorama offered in this domaine.

The “Vintage Collection,” the largest in this exhibition, offers a retrospective of street art since its debut in the 1970s through to rare period paintings which are often the first works from these “masters of the spray paint.”

Château Labottière serves as a treasure chest full of these legendary paintings. Very few are preserved, and many are unrecorded.

For the most part, many works are signed Coco, Blade, Dondi, Rammellzee, Crash, Aone, Toxic, Lee, Lady Pink, Zéphyr, Daze, Zlotykamien, Bando, Jayone, JonOne and more.

Visit Espace Boetie where you will discover this collection of unique conceptual art. Parts of the “Love Collection” exhibited in 2009 at Grand Palais, and portions of the “Vintage Collection” were presented at the Pinacothèque de Paris in 2015.

This is a rare exhibition of hidden street art. Although exhibited in galleries since 1972, it was rejected by the New York art world after 1983 when it was unfairly associated with gang art.

However, it can finally be discovered in the prestigious environment of Château Labottière, home of Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute.
