At MO.CO. Panacée, Ivana Bašić and Pierre Unal-Brunet explore metamorphoses and mutations
The MO.CO. Panacée hosts two exceptional monographic exhibitions as part of its Art and Science season, offering a fascinating dialogue between artistic creation and scientific speculation.
Metempsychosis - Ivana Bašić
Yugoslav-born artist Ivana Bašić questions the material and metaphysical boundaries of humanity through her sculptures, drawings and installations. Her works, imbued with a striking aesthetic, evoke the fragility of the human condition and the possibility of metamorphosis as an alternative to escape. The centerpiece, Metabole (2020-2024), is a seven-meter-long robotic altarpiece in which pneumatic hammers sculpt a stone, echoing the artist's breathing. The work embodies a dialogue between raw materiality and spiritual quest.
Prodrome - Pierre Unal-Brunet
In Prodrome, Pierre Unal-Brunet explores the mutations of aquatic environments through works combining paintings, sculptures and drawings. Drawing inspiration from ichthyology and marine biology, the artist creates a universe where composite bodies populate imaginary ecosystems. The exhibition, structured into five chapters, illustrates a gradual saturation reminiscent of eutrophication, that ecological imbalance where the proliferation of life paradoxically leads to asphyxiation. A poetic and critical approach to today's environmental crises.
