Galerie Di Meo presents Michel Haas’ exhibition entitled Les Bouquets from March 9 to April 26, 2007.

To accompany the exhibition, the gallery has asked Communic’Art to create a catalogue reproducing all 17 works in the show, along with a text by Lydie and Nello Di Meo, and an introduction by Michel Anthonioz, writer and TV director.

The exhibition presents Michel Haas’ most recent works which grasp the fragility and timelessness of flowers, giving tribute to what’s perishable.

«He found his own path. He has pierced the skin of painting, rejecting all models and lessons, if only to gain more from the inspiration. In its essence, painting is always a question of skin. A skin, which in certain of the works in this exhibition, takes on a flavour of human skin», writes Michel Anthonioz in the introduction.

Not only does the small and elegant catalogue allows the reader to look intimately at the works, but the images of the artist in his studio also convey this sense of intimacy.

Michel Haas was born in 1934 and currently lives in Paris. He has managed to enter the small circle of living artists who does have the recognition of the public and of collectors.

He exclusively works on paper and mixes violence and gentlesness with pastel, charcoal, glue and water. On the floor of his studio, the artist uses his hands to create his works of “basalt and lava”. With his conception of the world and of painting, he breaks away from formal rules and rigid frames.

This catalogue is distributed by our partner PARIS MUSÉES in 300 bookstores in France, including 50 specialized
