“Des Corps Libres” 1st group show of Reiffers Art Initiatives at the studio des acacias from May 5 to 28, 2022 in Paris
Reiffers Art Initiatives is pleased to announce its first group show at the Studio des Acacias by Mazarine, "Des corps libres, une jeune scène française” (Free bodies, a young French scene) from 5 - 28 May 2022.
This group show accompanies the launch of the Reiffers Art Initiatives Prize, which rewards the early career of an emerging talent from the new French scene. The name of the laureate will be announced in early April.
Curated by Thibaut Wychowanok, member of the Reiffers Art Initiatives committee, "Des corps libres" is the result of constant and conscious research. This exhibition showcases a whole generation of young talents around the theme of the metamorphosis of the body, in this instance 14 artists:
Ymane Chabi-Gara, Salomé Chatriot, Jean Claracq, Kenny Dunkan, Ben Elliot, Tarek Lakhrissi, Chalisée Naamani, Valentin Ranger, Sara Sadik, Pol Taburet, Sophie Varin, Julie Villard & Simon Brossard, Manon Wertenbroek and Gaspar Willmann.
Through a multitude of mediums and practices, the body of work questions the representation and fluctuating materiality of the body and celebrates its diversity, its struggles, and its contemporary emancipation.
Reiffers Art Initiatives will award a prize under the aegis of its committee, which will meet at the beginning of April to announce the laureate of the Reiffers Art Initiatives Prize. In addition to the prize of €10,000, the artist will be commissioned to create a monumental work that will become part of the foundation’s collection.
“After the Mentorship Programme exhibition last October, which celebrated an intergenerational collaboration between young artist Kenny Dunkan and his mentor Rashid Johnson, we invite to discover the creative force of a new generation of talented artists.” says Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers, Founder of Reiffers Art Initiatives. “With the prize, we want to accelerate the recognition and the trajectory of talents whose work strives to open up the world, in its complexity and diversity.”
