The Fondation Calouste Gulbenkian – French Delegation, La Friche la Belle de Mai, and the contemporary art center of national interest Triangle-Astérides announce the creation of a new, unprecedented residency program dedicated to curators from African Portuguese-speaking art scenes (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe).

Hosted at La Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille, the program is part of a broader dynamic of international cultural cooperation, professional mobility, and support for curatorial research.

The call for applications, opening in the first half of 2026, is aimed at curators based in or originating from the countries concerned, with proven curatorial experience. One curator will be selected at the end of the process.

The residency will take place in Marseille over a three-month period in the second half of 2026. The selected participant will benefit from a dedicated research period, professional mentorship, access to networks of French and international institutions and professionals, as well as financial support including a production grant and a daily allowance.

This program aims to strengthen the visibility of African Portuguese-speaking art scenes while fostering the circulation of ideas and curatorial practices within European contemporary art networks.
