Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is pleased to present I have this memory, it is not my own, a group exhibition with artists Mariam Abouzid Souali, Jess Atieno, Binta Diaw, Adji Dieye and Rahima Gambo.

Through a range of practices as varied as installation, video, tapestry and painting, the exhibition proposes to question our contemporary existences through the "architectures" of which they are composed. Architecture as a principle of organization of a whole and structuring of a space, is approached here by a young generation of women artists from the continent and its diaspora in the plurality of its senses.

From a literal reading, as a structuring of physical space, to a more metaphorical interpretation of "architectures of the self", the concept is a pretext to explore the interrelation between these physical arrangements, the identity, symbolic, historical and cultural structures which respond to them, which we inherit but also create for ourselves.

The exhibition's immersive architecture itself invites us to experience the poetic force of the works of a generation of artists engaged in writing about a global and multiple world.
