Carpenters Workshop Gallery at Design Days Dubai for an exceptional group show
DESIGN DAYS DUBAI
FROM 14 TO 18 MARCH
BOOTH A10
Carpenters Workshop Gallery is proud to announce its participation in Design Days Dubai for its fifth consecutive year.
The gallery will be exhibiting a wide range of pieces by its artists Atelier Van Lieshout, Ron Arad, Sebastian Brajkovic, Andrea Branzi, the Campana Brothers, Nacho Carbonell, Vincent Dubourg, Frederik Molenschot, Studio Job and Charles Trevelyan.
Nacho Carbonell, a Spanish artist new to the gallery, will show the next stage of his ‘Cocoon’ series, a collection of critically acclaimed lamps made from the designer’s unusual mesh technique.
The gallery will exhibit another lighting installation by Dutch designer Frederik Molenschot: ‘Silver Avenue’, made from silver patina on bronze.
Atelier Van Lieshout’s new work ‘Strong Chair’ will also be presented. The chair juxtaposes soft Pierre Frey velvet with an imposing steel frame.
Australian designer, Charles Trevelyan’s other-wordly lighting sculpture, ‘Askance’, finished in patinated bronze, will also be on the booth. His pieces make reference to the complexity of organic forms found in nature.
Dutch designer Sebastian Brajkovic will display his stand-out creation, ‘Vanishing Point IV’, an elegant seating sculpture made from patinated bronze, cashmere wool and silk embroidery.
Renowned Italian designer, Andrea Branzi will display one of his celebrated tree sculptures which incorporates anodized aluminium and birch wood. The designer seeks to question the relationship between nature and culture.
Vincent Dubourg has created a new piece with his signature ‘Gaia Imprint’. Table’s print is created with the flames of a blowtorch, which manipulates the aluminium to give it a fascinating texture.
Dynamic Dutch designers, Studio Job will show ‘Rock Sconce’, a tandem of candle sticks finished in their signature elaborate and decorative polished bronze pattina. They seek to question the relationship between creation and destruction.
The seating sculpture, ‘Big Easy Volume 2’ by Ron Arad, will also be included in the scenography. The designer has created the illusion of an overstuffed sofa suggesting comfort, contrasted by with stainless steel, conveying the strength and solidarity.
Last but by no means least, the gallery will showcase the hypnotic ‘Sushi Cabinet’, by Brazilian design duo Humberto and Fernando Campana. Inspired by the forms of maki sushi and in fusion with their South American cultural heritage, the work incorporates recycled and luxury fabrics to obtain a varied and fascinating texture.
Soon in France, the Brazilian duo will also be presenting ‘Manufatura’, an exclusive solo-show from 1 April until 22 May at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery Paris space, unveiling brand new pieces from four of their newest series.
CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY
COLLECTING DESIGN
Carpenters Workshop Gallery transcends classical borders in terms of art and design. Its proposal stands just at the intersection of these two universes: reaching precisely a symbiosis of art and design.
Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international rising and already established artists and designers going outside their traditional territories of expression.
The gallery is actively involved in the research and production of the limited edition works exhibited. The choices are guided by the research of an emotional, artistic and historical relevance; a relevance that appears as an evidence.
