IN THE GARDENS OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, 5 MONUMENTAL SCULPTURES BY ALEXANDRE BENJAMIN NAVET, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE Galerie Derouillon, FROM MARCH 22, 2023
From 22 March 2023 and during 3 months, French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet will invest the Cour d’Honneur - main courtyard - and the so called garden of the Four Columns of the French National Assembly with five monumental sculptures. The Carte Blanche given to the artist is conceived in collaboration with Galerie Derouillon, which represents him.
Alexandre Benjamin Navet will array his poetic universe with five monumental sculptures whose assemblages of vases, one of the artist’s favorite objects, compose a set of totems made out of flamboyant colors.
This installation in the Cour d’Honneur and the garden of the Four Columns of the French National Assembly participates in the dialogue between contemporary art and public space. The Palais Bourbon will open its doors to the public on the occasion of several events, allowing them to discover Alexandre Benjamin Navet’s artworks.
A brilliant draughtsman whose powerful strokes and vivid colors create enchanted worlds, Alexandre Benjamin Navet works in the great tradition of French decorative arts in a resolutely contemporary spirit.
This unclassifiable artist is not at his first intervention in public spaces. He has notably decorated the Hôtel des Arts in Toulon (France) in 2020, New York’s 5th Avenue in collaboration with fine jewellery brand Van Cleef & Arpels in 2022, and the facades of Place du Commerce during the last summer edition of the Voyage à Nantes.
