For its third participation in the Biennale des Antiquaires, Tornabuoni Art confirms its commitment to Italian artists from the second half of the 20th century.

The gallery showcases on its booth a selection of significant works from Alighiero Boetti, Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, Enrico Castellani, Dadamaino...
 

Among the works by unmissable artists, is the exceptional Concetto Spaziale, Attese (1965) by Lucio Fontana, the master of Spatialism recently celebrated with double retrospectives both at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and Tornabuoni Art Paris, avenue Matignon. This specific artwork combines two of Fontana's emblematic techniques from his creations of the 1960s : the tagli and teatrini.

Similar artworks have achieved record sales at auction, notably at Christie's in 2014. This Concetto Spaziale, Attese, presented at the Biennale des Antiquaires by Tornabuoni Art, has been exhibited in a number of museums and foundations all over the world, most recently at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
 

The gallery will also present the works of Alighiero Boetti, an artist passionate about Afghanistan, country where he started his Mappe (planisphere) series at the start of the 1970s. Alongside, there will be three iconic pieces of the 1960s' work of Enrico Castellani, a major name in Italian post-war art.
 

TORNABUONI ART REPRESENTS THE MOST IMPORTANT ITALIAN ARTISTS FROM THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20th CENTURY

Mainly specialized in Italian art from the second half of the 20th century (Fontana, Castellani, Manzoni, Dorazio, Bonalumi, Dadamaino, etc.). Furthermore, the gallery continually presents artworks from international avant-garde artists of the 20th century (Picasso, Miró, Kandinsky, Hartung, Poliakoff, Dubuffet, Lam, Matta, Christo, Wesselmann, Warhol, Basquiat, etc.) together with the main artists of the Italian Novecento (De Chirico, Morandi, Balla, Severini et Sironi).

Tornabuoni Art in Paris opened on October 1st 2009 with a very successful exhibition dedicated to Lucio Fontana. Since then numerous monographic exhibitions have been organised : Alighiero Boetti (2010), Mario Ceroli (2010), Arnaldo Pomodoro (2011), Enrico Castellani (2011), Mimmo Rotella (2012), Giuseppe Capogrossi (2013), Dadamaino (2013), Lucio Fontana (2014). All of the solo shows are conceived in direct consultation with the artist or the foundation that represents him and is also documented by a catalogue.

Besides retrospectives dedicated to great post-war Italian artists, the gallery also offers a unique approach to its collection through the organisation of group shows by external curators who are given carte blanche. The exhibitions “Monochrome Under Pressure”, “On Fire” and “Bianco Italia” were created following this idea.

All exhibitions are conceived in collaboration with Tornabuoni Arte in Florence (Italy) which was the first gallery created by Roberto Casamonti in 1981 in the street that gave its name to the gallery. Tornabuoni Arte has then opened spaces in Milan in 1995, in Portofino en 2001, Forte dei Marmi in 2004, Paris in 2009 and soon in London's Mayfair.

Tornabuoni Art participates in international art fairs such as FIAC and Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris, TEFAF in Maastricht, Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Basel Hong Kong, Artefiera in Bologna and Frieze Masters in London.
 

The gallery also acts as a consultant to international museums and as an advisor to private or business collections.
