At 46 St Paul Gallery, the first exhibition by Dany Albiach, young visual artist and 2024 graduate of Villa Arson
46 St Paul Gallery is pleased to inaugurate its 2026 season with Dany Albiach, a 2024 graduate of La Villa Arson and recipient of the 2026 Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation Monaco Prize.
His recent work consists of pieces combining Bic pen drawing and silkscreen printing on wood. The latter technique is approached as a fully-fledged pictorial medium, playing with thickness, texture, and reflective effects. The images used come both from old family archives and from his current wanderings. The result is a series of quiet compositions in which temporalities interact and dissolve into one another.
Memory emerges here as a central theme: an intimate memory composed of cherished moments and forgotten photographs stored on his phone. Fragmented and disparate, these images become shards that reconstruct landscapes through an intuitive narrative framework, without ever claiming to reach a single truth.
This resonance with memory is reinforced by plays of reflection that convey a sense of instability: certain elements appear or disappear depending on the viewer’s position in space.
The absence of titles is intentional, allowing the works to be approached as fragments of anonymous lives onto which each viewer may project their own experiences.
