Été flottant ("Floating Summer") is LiFang's first solo exhibition at Loo & Lou Gallery. Through a series of works devoted to bathing scenes, the artist captures the very essence of summer.

For this autumn exhibition, three series of oil paintings are on view: Aux Sources, Somewhere, and Eaux Dormantes. These canvases extend the warmth and stillness of summer, like a reminiscence of a time when humankind rediscovered its primal connection to nature.

Through broad brushstrokes, LiFang strips the scene of anything superfluous. Forms dissolve into light, hovering between figuration and abstraction, as though memory itself were becoming matter. This economy of gesture opens a space for identification: everyone can recognize themselves in it, in the universal sensation of a summer lived or dreamed.

In this "gentle abstraction" so distinctly her own, LiFang creates spaces for contemplation where dream and reality, disappearance and permanence intertwine — inviting each viewer to rediscover an inner shore where imagination and memory intertwine.

Born in China in 1968, LiFang lives and works in Paris. She discovered her passion for painting at the age of 15. After seven years of study at the Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts, she worked as a university professor of drawing and painting, before moving to France in 2001 to pursue her artistic research. After completing her graduate degree (DEA) in Visual Arts at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, she set out in search of a new pictorial language to capture contemporary reality. Since 2005, her work has been shown in galleries, institutions, and international art fairs in France, Germany, Switzerland, as well as in New York and Asia. Her works have been acquired by public collections, including those of the Musée Cernuschi in Paris and the Fondation Colas.
