2ND EDITION OF STRASBOURG CAPITALE DU VERRE BY THE EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION ESGAA
The first edition of « Strasbourg, Capitale du Verre » held in 2006 attracted more than 40 000 visitors. In 2007, the event should welcome an even larger public with the TVG-Est that links Paris to Strasbourg in just 2 hours and 20 minutes! « Strasbourg, Capitale du Verre » is going to become the most important european event for art and glass lovers.
This event, initiated by the European Studio Glass Art Association or ESGAA, brings forward all artistic aspects of glass in 17 exhibitions with 40 international artists: design, decorative art, architecture, sculpture, and photography.
This event takes place in a historical and cultural context closely related to glass. It is indeed in Alsace and the surrounding area such as Lorraine and the Vosges where French glass-making industry was born, including Baccarat, Lalique and Saint-Louis…
Even though, for centuries, this material was mainly used with decorative and utilitarian functions, glass has become, in a few decades, a medium commonly used in contemporary art.
This event aims at establishing an artistic interest in glass, both for amateurs and professionals.
L’ESGAA has entrusted Communic’Art with the media campaign for the event. Regional, general, artistic, design and fashion media have been addressed. A few days before the event’s inauguration, close to 20 articles were already published in the press.
