BRAFA 2015: Carpenters Workshop Gallery PRESENTS ANDREA BRANZI, WENDELL CASTLE...
At BRAFA, Carpenters Workshop Gallery will present a collection of pieces by Atelier Van Lieshout, Andrea Branzi, Wendell Castle, Kendell Geers, Stuart Haygarth, :mentalKlinik, Charles Trevelyan and Erwin Wurm, displayed in surroundings designed by the French artist Ingrid Donat.
After his 2014 retrospective at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design de Bordeaux, Carpenters Workshop Gallery has chosen to present a recent piece by Andrea Branzi, a major figure in Italian design.
The work of the Austrian artist Erwin Wurm in burr Ash, Director’s Desk and Director’s Chair will answer, so to speak, Wendell Castle’s emblematic Seventh Night, feted at the last edition of the Biennale des Antiquaires.
The English designer Stuart Haygarth collects and classifies pieces he finds on the beach. The material, whether it be kitsch, broken or obsolete, comes to life in another form. Urchin (fat) is a lamp made from eyeglass frames that will light the polished bronze piece Stool, and the Leviathan Stool tyre chair by Kendell Geers, the South African artist.
Finally, Carpenters Workshop Gallery will present two mirrors by Yasemin Baydar and Birol Demir, the Turkish artist/founders of :mentalKlinik, Mirror (Gold) and Mirror (Black), and Tripartite by the Australian artist Charles Trevelyan.
