From January 15 to March 15, 2026, the France Delegation of the Gulbenkian Foundation is opening the 8th edition of its call for applications for exhibition projects showcasing artists from the Portuguese scene in French-speaking Europe. Now held twice a year, this call takes place in two sessions annually: a first from January to March, and a second from September to October.

This call is open to art centers, museums, FRACs, CRACs, as well as associations and festival-type events wishing to include artists from the Portuguese scene in their programming. It covers all visual arts disciplines. This exhibition support scheme aims to promote the visibility of Portuguese artistic creation, an objective that has been central to the Foundation's mission since its founding in 1956.

Once again this year, the Foundation has helped raise the profile of artists from the Portuguese scene through exhibitions in prestigious institutions. Among the flagship projects are the exhibition "Migrations, une odyssée humaine" at the Musée de l'Homme, featuring works by Filipe Vilas-Boas, Marco Godinho, and Angelica Dass, and "Paysages mouvants" at the Jeu de Paume, where Mónica de Miranda explores landscape narratives. Also worth noting: artist Ana Vidigal's first solo exhibition in France at the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré (CCC OD), as well as the collaboration between Luanda Carneiro Jacoel and Bianca Turner in "MANIFEST," presented by Les Anneaux de la Mémoire in Nantes.

APPLICATION CONDITIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

• Contribute to the international recognition of the Portuguese artistic scene in the field of visual arts.
• Promote the visibility of artists from the Portuguese scene, living or deceased, in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Monaco.
• Institutions may submit projects featuring international artists living in Portugal, whose work incorporates a dimension connected to Portugal.
• Stimulate scientific research.
• Encourage the production of original works and innovative critical thinking on the history of Portuguese art.

EXHIBITION FORMATS: Eligible projects concern exhibitions in the following formats:

• Solo monographic exhibition of Portuguese artist(s).
• Solo anthology or retrospective exhibition of Portuguese artist(s).
• Group exhibition featuring the participation of one or more artists from the Portuguese scene.
• A recurring visual arts event featuring the participation of one or more artists from the Portuguese scene.

DISCIPLINES: Architecture and design are not eligible under this program.
