ERIC SCHMITT, GIACOMO RAVAGLI, WONMIN PARK… Carpenters Workshop Gallery announces its program for 2022's 3rd quarter
ERIC SCHMITT "MYTHO
FROM SEPTEMBER 8 TO OCTOBER 8, 2022
FROM SEPTEMBER 8 TO OCTOBER 8, 2022
Press day : September 8th, 4pm - 6pm
Opening : September 8, 6pm - 8pm
For his first exhibition at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Eric Schmitt has resurrected the forms that populated his imagination as a child dreaming of becoming an archaeologist, mixing evocations of the Illiad and the Odyssey or the Old Testament with individuals landed from another planet.
There is a callipygian who carries on his head the tray of a table, here a pre-Columbian amulet transformed into a pedestal table or a hybrid animal from a ruin of Sparta frozen in a console. Eric Schmitt translates them in his own way into silent and massive bronzes, reassuring like founding pieces of a chimerical civilization. The dark patinas allow subtle colors to pass through like a reminiscence of terracotta, green of gray or midnight blue.
GIACOMO RAVAGLI "MATERIA PRIMA"
FROM SEPTEMBER 8 TO DECEMBER 3, 2022
FROM SEPTEMBER 8 TO DECEMBER 3, 2022
Press day : September 8, 4pm - 6pm
Opening : September 8, 6pm - 8pm
Giacomo Ravagli takes a close look at the profound nature of stone when it is carved by hand. The title of his new collection, Materia Prima, refers to this demanding and capricious raw material that must be transformed into a functional work. Materia Prima brings together 10 pieces, most of which are new, including a console and a table, a candlestick, several lamps and sconces. It proposes a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic material par excellence that is marble, and testifies to the great variety of forms and aesthetics that it can take on when it is mastered to perfection. This new set is a continuation of Ravagli's previous collection, Barometro, through the radical geometry of its forms, the harmony of its volumes and proportions.
WONMIN PARK "ON EARTH"
OCTOBER 20 TO JANUARY 7, 2023
Press day : October 20, 4-6pm
Opening : October 20, 6-8pm
From October 20, 2022 to January 7, 2023, Carpenters Workshop Gallery Paris presents "On Earth": a new exhibition dedicated to the poetic and contrasting universe of the Korean artist and designer Wonmin Park.
This new exhibition marks a turning point in the creative process of the artist who for the first time brings together resin and volcanic rock, two materials that have shaped his practice. He also presents a set of drawings and paintings.
This new exhibition is emblematic of Wonmin Park's work, which is always at the crossroads of two contradictory phenomena opposing rationalized human forms to natural forces of disorganization. The poetics of the materials he develops allows everyone to experience the world and its alteration, whether natural or human. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
